Essay: An Encounter with an Alien

An Encounter with an Alien

There was a knock on my door; I woke up to see before me a strange looking boy, with two antenna-like objects sticking out of his head over a hairy body. His owl-like round eyes resembled the characters I had just seen from Mars. I screamed in fright, but he said something in an alien language and gesticulated with his hands, indicating that he meant no harm. I stared at him in disbelief, unable to even scream.

Sensing that I was frightened, he gave me a translator to put on my ears that would allow me to understand his language. I learnt that he indeed had come from Mars. He wanted to take me to his friends and show me his planet. He extended his thin wiry like hand in friendship. Though he sounded friendly, I was scared because I knew not what would offend him.

He talked about life on Mars, telling me that it is much bigger than our planet earth, having its own solar system. They do not eat, for they survive on noble gases that are in abundance. I politely requested him to let me sleep, for I had to wake up early to attend school.

He reacted with alacrity. Snatching the translator from my hand, he pointed his gun at me and in a flash I was in flames . I screamed with all my might “Help, Help, this boy from Mars has killed me.” I suddenly felt a splash of cold water on my face. Opening my eyes I saw and realised that it was all but a dream.

Thank you.....

Essay: My favorite writer

My favourite writer

There have been many great authors of fame in India.  Rabindranath Tagore is my favourite author. He wrote many novels, poems, short stories and  plays. He was also an educationalist, a social reformer, a musician and a religious preacher.

Rabindranath was a prominent figure in modern India. He is in the words of Prof.  Sarvapally Radhakrishnan“the greatest figure in the modern Renaissance.”

Tagore was born in a landlord family of Bengal at Kolkata on May 6, 1861. He did not attend any school or college.  He was educated in the most open university in the world. He started a magazine. He wrote books in Bengali till he was fifty years of age.

He went abroad at the age of 52.  People of other countries welcomed him as a noble ambassador of the Indian people. His book “Gitanjali '' won him the Nobel Prize in Literature.  The king of England gave him the title of “Sir” in 1915. He opened his own famous school at Shantiniketan. Later. This school became a centre of culture and university.

His poems are full of the beauty of nature, love of God and children. He is called the “Shelley of Bengal”. He is an inspired singer who sings because he cannot help singing. Out of his books of poems, the “Gitanjali” is the best.  His song, “Jan-Gan-Man” is our national anthem. One cannot forget his stories like “The Home-Coming”. In short, he is such a great writer as is born in a country only once in many countries.

Essay: My Dream

My Dream

Everyone wants to be successful in their life so “Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.” – Arthur Ashe. I also dream of becoming successful in the field I choose although I am still indecisive about the career path I will choose. But I know whatever I choose I will work hard, stay focused and make it big.

It is rightly said, Miracles start to happen when you give as much energy to your dreams as you do to your fears”. Dreams are essential. It is only when you dream big with all your heart you will be able to achieve big. As students our dream is to achieve good marks, have good friends, get support from the family and make it big in life.

I also dream of doing something for my country and I dream of eradicating poverty and social inequality from our country and will do my best in this direction. If we all join hands we shall certainly be able to free our country from these evils. There are so many problems in the country such as poverty, illiteracy and casteism to name a few. Our country was once known for its rich cultural heritage which is all robbed now.

The crime rate in the country is at an all time rise and so are various other issues. While there are a lot of loopholes in the India political system that have led to these problems however we cannot blame it all on the government. Each one of us should contribute our bit towards our country’s development.

Hydraulophone and Pyrophone

An Unusual and Interesting Instruments

Hydraulophone

A hydraulophone is a musical instrument in which sounds are created by flowing water. Steve Mann says that the idea for creating a hydraulophone developed gradually in the 1980s. It's an unusual and interesting device that can be very expressive when played by a skilled musician. The general public can also create music with the instrument. It's fun and easy to play, although a skilled player can produce a wider variety of sounds than a beginner.

Pyrophone

A pyrophone, also known as a "fire/explosion organ" or "fire/explosion calliope" is a musical instrument in which notes are sounded by explosions, or similar forms of rapid combustion, rapid heating, or the like, such as burners in cylindrical glass tubes, creating light and sound.

It was invented by physicist and musician Georges FrÃĐdÃĐric EugÃĻne Kastner (born 1852 in Strasbourg, France - died 1882 in Bonn, Germany), son of composer Jean-Georges Kastner, around 1870.

Art Demonstration Program

Hello Friends

Warmly welcome to my blog. Here, I have thrown some light on the difference between Artistic ability and Creativity ability. How can students analyse their abilities and skills they have? Here, I have presented various art works of students as they had tried to enhance their capabilities.

What is artistic and creative ability ? 🊄🖌

  • Artistic ability includes skills and talent to create works of art: painting, drawing, sculpting, musical composition, etc.

  • Creativity ability is the skill and talent to use our imagination to create and solve.

"Creativity is something that allows people to show what they are capable of doing. For the most part, this ability is unique to almost every individual."

- Joanna Yanez

When I think of creativity, I think of art that expresses inner talent and imagination. Creativity is the ability to come up with and present ideas which are stored in the mind when those ideas have a shape that can be formed as a work of art. Therefore the students of K.V. Vidya Mandir also tried their best to create new models of creative art.  ðŸŽĻ For that you can watch the below given video. ⬇️

Language Laboratory

Mobile app language lab

and

Language lab programme in DELL

He'll

Friends,

COVID-19 has had a major impact on people around the world, but how is the pandemic changing our language and the way we communicate? Here in this blog I will discuss what to do in critical siptuations to learn the English language through various tools and apps . The solution is anyone can use the features like any online platform, British Council English Language Learning App in NAMO e-TAB and Language Laboratory, which can help students to acquire the knowledge of language and also they can understand it well.

The language laboratory plays an important role in the language learning process. As it is a technological aid for learning, it has a number of advanced facilities that can help students. What helps one to acquire such proficiency in a language is the process and the method of learning that language. The language of the laboratory is very useful for assessing students’ speech. It provides students with technical tools to get the best samples of pronunciation of the language.

Advantages of language learning software

The purpose of a language⁷ lab is to involve students to actively participate in language learning exercises and get more practice time than otherwise possible in a traditional classroom environment. Main benefit of a language lab is that it increases the time each student can spend actively speaking and practicing.

Acoustic: The direct sound transmission gives step by step guidance to the students with crystal clear clarity.

Audio and video

Proper concentration: The Lab software is more attention enthralling for the students, where they are engaged with individual systems then it will be quite effective.

Exhaustive : The Lab increases the pace of comprehension as students complete the one by one level of study.

Effective learning process: The lab provides to learn the foreign language practice which eliminates the feelings of self-consciousness.

Accuracy: By using text and audio can easily be integrated with actuality in everyday situations.

Self evaluation: The students can do a periodical self evaluation to measure the progress as well as evaluate their language with that of the expert.

Individual learning: Access to resources beyond the timetable encourages independent learning.

Synergistic: The students can record their own voice and play back the recordings, interact with each other and the teacher, and store the results.

Disadvantages of language learning software

Expensive to build: The language lab requires a high cost to be built in the university and to be kept on going. It is expensive to set up the language lab and in a country like India there is no lab syllabus and usually language classes are conducted as theory.

Inconvenience to excess: The language lab would not let the English teaching-learning process be effective if there are some troubles with the technology. Even, it becomes useless when the electricity is off.

Trained teachers:  The language laboratory needs a qualified teacher to be able to activate all the technology provided in it and well trained in executing the language lab effectively.

Qualitative apparatus: Universities, or more precisely, faculties of English has to employ technicians who would keep the equipment in the language laboratory always in high-quality conditions.

Time Consuming:  These days students do not have enough patience to listen to pronunciation and practice, so the recording of pronunciation is useless.

Learning is inferior to traditional ways of learning: During natural communication, learners can see each other , they can use many ways to communicate such as facial expressions. During natural communication the listener knows the meaning of the speaker and if he cannot understand, he can judge by means of different ways, but Internet-based learning is powerless and it cannot give a detailed account of the learners’ recognition ability.

As technology changes rapidly, there should be a provision for upgrades in the medium of instruction, which can be a burden for schools in terms of finances.

What can be learnt from this language lab programme:

  • To facilitate computer-aided multimedia instruction enabling individualized and independent language Learning.
  • To sensitize the students to the nuances of English speech sounds, word accent, intonation and rhythm.
  • To bring about a consistent accent and intelligibility in their pronunciation of English by providing an opportunity for practice in speaking.
  • To improve the fluency in spoken English and neutralize mother tongue influence.
  • To train students to use language appropriately for interviews, group discussion and public speaking.
  • Better Understanding of nuances of language through audio- visual experience and group activities.
  • Neutralization of accent for intelligibility Speaking with clarity and confidence thereby enhancing employability skills of the students.
